The expression system uses managed_bytes_opt for values, but result_set
uses bytes_opt. This means that processing values from the result set
in expressions requires a copy.
Out of the two, managed_bytes_opt is the better choice, since it prevents
large contiguous allocations for large blobs. So we switch result_set
to use managed_bytes_opt. Users of the result_set API are adjusted.
The db::function interface is not modified to limit churn; instead we
convert the types on entry and exit. This will be adjusted in a following
patch.
Schema related files are moved there. This excludes schema files that
also interact with mutations, because the mutation module depends on
the schema. Those files will have to go into a separate module.
Closes#12858
We have enabled the command line options without changing a
single line of code, we only had to replace old include
with scylla_test_case.hh.
Next step is to add x-log-compaction-groups options, which will
determine the number of compaction groups to be used by all
instantiations of replica::table.

Now that we don't accept cql protocol version 1 or 2, we can
drop cql_serialization format everywhere, except when in the IDL
(since it's part of the inter-node protocol).
A few functions had duplicate versions, one with and one without
a cql_serialization_format parameter. They are deduplicated.
Care is taken that `partition_slice`, which communicates
the cql_serialization_format across nodes, still presents
a valid cql_serialization_format to other nodes when
transmitting itself and rejects protocol 1 and 2 serialization\
format when receiving. The IDL is unchanged.
One test checking the 16-bit serialization format is removed.
Instead of lengthy blurbs, switch to single-line, machine-readable
standardized (https://spdx.dev) license identifiers. The Linux kernel
switched long ago, so there is strong precedent.
Three cases are handled: AGPL-only, Apache-only, and dual licensed.
For the latter case, I chose (AGPL-3.0-or-later and Apache-2.0),
reasoning that our changes are extensive enough to apply our license.
The changes we applied mechanically with a script, except to
licenses/README.md.
Closes#9937
Move replica-oriented classes to the replica namespace. The main
classes moved are ::database, ::keyspace, and ::table, but a few
ancillary classes are also moved. There are certainly classes that
should be moved but aren't (like distributed_loader) but we have
to start somewhere.
References are adjusted treewide. In many cases, it is obvious that
a call site should not access the replica (but the data_dictionary
instead), but that is left for separate work.
scylla-gdb.py is adjusted to look for both the new and old names.
Add "rows" field to system.large_partitions. Add partitions to the
table when they are too large or have too many rows.

for symmetry, let's call it perform_* as it doesn't work like submission
functions which doesn't wait for result, like the one for minor
compaction.

Since compaction is layered on top of sstables, let's move all compaction code
into a new top-level directory.
This change will give me extra motivation to remove all layer violations, like
sstable calling compaction-specific code, and compaction entanglement with
other components like table and storage service.
Next steps:
- remove all layer violations
- move compaction code in sstables namespace into a new one for compaction.
- move compaction unit tests into its own file

This is another boring patch.
One of schema constructors has been deprecated for many years now but
was used in several places anyway. Usage of this constructor could
lead to data corruption when using MX sstables because this constructor
does not set schema version. MX reading/writing code depends on schema
version.
This patch replaces all the places the deprecated constructor is used
with schema_builder equivalent. The schema_builder sets the schema
version correctly.

Currently `with_cql_test_env()` is equivalent to
`with_cql_test_env_thread()`, which resulted in many tests using the
former while really needing the latter and getting away with it. This
equivalence is incidental and will go away soon, so make sure all cql
test env using tests that expect to be run in a thread use the
appropriate variant.

Timeout config is now stored in each connection, so there's no point
in tracking it inside each query as well. This patch removes
timeout_config from query_options and follows by removing now
unnecessary parameters of many functions and constructors.
This detaches *like_operator*, *group_by*, *functions*
and *large* cases into own files. The split is not
uniform -- the resulting 4 tests run less that 3 minutes
each, what's left in the origin runs ~11 minutes. But
since the goal was to get out of 14 minutes threshold
and this file contains 126 cases (the champion) so I
just did "wildcard" selection that worked.
It also required moving require_rows() helpers into a
local header.
