Currently, when a view update backlog of one replica is full, the write is still sent by the coordinator to all replicas. Because of the backlog, the write fails on the replica, causing inconsistency that needs to be fixed by repair. To avoid these inconsistencies, this patch adds a check on the coordinator for overloaded replicas. As a result, a write may be rejected before being sent to any replicas and later retried by the user, when the replica is no longer overloaded. This patch does not remove the replica write failures, because we still may reach a full backlog when more view updates are generated after the coordinator check is performed and before the write reaches the replica. If you can use an existing folder, consider adding your test to it. New folders should be used for new large categories/subsystems, or when the test environment is significantly different from some existing suite, e.g. you plan to start scylladb with different configuration, and you intend to add many tests and would like them to reuse an existing Scylla cluster (clusters can be reused for tests within the same folder).
To add a new folder, create a new directory, and then
copy & edit its suite.ini.
