The pattern
return function_returning_a_future().get();
is legal, but confusing. It returns an unexpected std::tuple<>. Here,
it doesn't do any harm, but if we try to coerce the surrounding code
into a signature (void ()), then that will fail.
Remove the unneeded and unexpected return.
