1. It's unused since cbe510d1b8
2. It's unsafe to keep a reference to token_metadata&
potentially across yield points.
The higher-level motivation is to make
storage_service::get_token_metadata() private so we
can control better how it's used.
For cdc, if the token_metadata is going to be needed
to the future, it'd be better get it from
db_context::_proxy.get_token_metadata_ptr().
