The sysfs core now allows instances of 'struct bin_attribute' to be moved
into read-only memory. Make use of that to protect them against accidental
or malicious modifications.
Replace combined sysfs_emit() calls with separate sysfs_emit() and
sysfs_emit_at() invocations when emitting SCST_SYSFS_KEY_MARK in sysfs
attribute show handlers.
This improves code clarity and consistency, explicitly handling the
conditional addition of SCST_SYSFS_KEY_MARK.
This patch does not change any functionality.
Replace scnprintf() with sysfs_emit() and sysfs_emit_at() in sysfs show handlers.
These helper functions are specifically designed for sysfs output, providing safer
handling of buffer lengths and consistency across kernel sysfs interfaces.
This patch does not change any functionality.
Replace all uses of sprintf() with scnprintf() in sysfs attribute
callbacks to eliminate the risk of buffer overflows.
This patch does not change any functionality.

create_workqueue() was replaced with alloc_workqueue() with max_active set
to 0. However, the original create_workqueue() implicitly set max_active
to 1.
This change has led to unexpected bugs because previously, work items
could only be executed one by one. With the change, they can now be
executed simultaneously.
This patch fixes the issue by restoring max_active to 1.

strlcpy() reads the entire source buffer first. This read may exceed the
destination size limit. This is both inefficient and can lead to linear
read overflows if a source string is not NULL-terminated [1].

This patch fixes the installation process for Linux kernels where the
default value of INSTALL_MOD_DIR differs from `extra`.
For instance, it unbreaks `make rpm` against Fedora's kernels, where
INSTALL_MOD_DIR is set to `updates`.
1. Correct a typo, changing `make release` to `make 2release`.
2. Add information about package-related targets to the help section.
3. Remove `dev_handler` directory during the uninstall process.
4. Eliminate the non-existent `tgt` target from the PHONY targets.
5. Introduce SCST_MOD_DIR and SCST_DH_MOD_DIR as helper variables.
The previous series of patches introduced the use of a const pointer to
scsi_host_template. However, scsi_host_alloc() uses a non-const pointer
prior to kernel version 6.4, causing the build to throw the following
error:
passing argument 1 of ‘scsi_host_alloc’ discards ‘const’
qualifier from pointer target type
Hence, cast away the constness to resolve the error.
This patch fixes the following Coverity complaint:
CID 271580 (#2 of 2): Uninitialized scalar variable (UNINIT)
uninit_use_in_call: Using uninitialized value mcp->tov when calling
ql_dbg.
kmem_cache_destroy() can handle NULL pointer correctly, so there is no need
to check NULL pointer before calling kmem_cache_destroy().
For kernel versions before v4.3 there is a backport of
kmem_cache_destroy() that checks for a null pointer.
This patch fixes the following checkpatch warnings:
WARNING:NEEDLESS_IF: kmem_cache_destroy(NULL) is safe and this check
is probably not required
The legacy API wrappers in include/linux/pci-dma-compat.h should go away as
they create unnecessary midlayering for include/linux/dma-mapping.h API.
Instead use dma-mapping.h API directly.
This patch fixes build for linux kernel v5.18.
Instead of using the SCp.ptr field to track whether or not a command is
in flight, use the sp->type field to track this information. sp->type
must be set for proper operation of the qla2xxx driver. See e.g. the
switch (sp->type) statement in qla2x00_ct_entry().
Port the commit 8cc7b18f ("qla2x00t-32gbit: Stop using the SCSI pointer")
to the old qlogic driver.
There is a regular need in the kernel to provide a way to declare
having a dynamically sized set of trailing elements in a structure.
Kernel code should always use “flexible array members”[1] for these
cases. The older style of one-element or zero-length arrays should
no longer be used[2].
This code was transformed with the help of Coccinelle:
($ spatch --jobs $(getconf _NPROCESSORS_ONLN) --sp-file script.cocci --include-headers --dir . > output.patch)
