The test_internode_compression_between_datacenters test was flaky due to proxy servers and leased host IPs not being cleaned up on failure paths. If any exception occurred after proxies were started (e.g. during server_start or driver_connect), the asyncio.Server listeners remained bound and leased hosts were never released back to HostRegistry. On subsequent test runs, this caused EADDRINUSE (errno 98) when trying to bind the same address:port. Wrap the proxy/server lifecycle in try/finally to ensure proxies are always stopped and hosts are always released, regardless of whether the test succeeds or fails. If you can use an existing folder, consider adding your test to it. New folders should be used for new large categories/subsystems, or when the test environment is significantly different from some existing suite, e.g. you plan to start scylladb with different configuration, and you intend to add many tests and would like them to reuse an existing Scylla cluster (clusters can be reused for tests within the same folder).
To add a new folder, create a new directory, and then
copy & edit its suite.ini.
